Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Madagascar passport holders need a visa to enter Uzbekistan. Apply online at the official Uzbekistan eVisa portal at least 3 working days before travel. The eVisa costs $20 USD for a single-entry visa valid for 30 days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan does not require 6 months of validity beyond departure, but airlines may enforce their own rules — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Show at check-in and border
Immigration officers and airline staff will ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket out of Uzbekistan. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this at the check-in counter and again at passport control.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uzbekistan ready. Officers at Tashkent airport sometimes ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Carry evidence of sufficient funds — a bank statement or credit card showing at least $100 USD per day of your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Apply early for your e-visa
Processing takes 2–3 business days, but delays happen. Apply at least a week before your flight to avoid last-minute stress.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your e-visa PDF, passport photo, and flight confirmations on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose the printout, you can show the digital copy at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to e-visa.gov.uz, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $20 USD). Processing takes 2–3 business days. You'll receive the visa by email as a PDF.
2
Print or save your e-visa
Print a copy of the e-visa approval email and also save the PDF on your phone. Immigration at Tashkent International Airport will ask to see it before they stamp you in.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Have your passport, printed e-visa, return ticket confirmation, and hotel booking ready in a clear folder. At passport control, hand them over together — it speeds things up.
4
Go through immigration at Tashkent Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. The officer will check your documents, take a photo, and stamp your passport. The whole process usually takes 5–10 minutes.
