Madagascar passport holders need an eVisa to enter Vietnam in 2026. The process is entirely online — no embassy visit required. Just apply, pay, and receive your approval before you fly.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Vietnam eVisa at the official Immigration Department portal. The eVisa costs $25 USD, allows single or multiple entry, and is valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3 working days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your Madagascar passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure from Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Vietnam
Immigration officers routinely ask for a flight out of Vietnam within your eVisa's validity period. Have a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket ready — a bus or train ticket to Cambodia also works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Vietnam. Immigration rarely asks for it, but budget airlines sometimes request proof before issuing a boarding pass.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a credit card statement ready. Immigration officers rarely check this for eVisa holders, but it helps if questioned about your stay.Recommended
eVisa is for single entry only
The Vietnam eVisa allows a single entry. If you leave Vietnam (even for a day trip), you'll need a new visa to re-enter.
Use the official government website
Only apply at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn. Many third-party sites charge extra fees and may not process your application correctly.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online

2
Receive your eVisa approval letter
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval letter. Print it out and keep a digital copy on your phone. The letter contains a unique code and your photo.
3
Arrive at a Vietnamese airport
You can enter Vietnam through any of the 8 international airports: Noi Bai (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), Da Nang, Cam Ranh (Nha Trang), Cat Bi (Hai Phong), Can Tho, Phu Quoc, or Lien Khuong (Da Lat).
4
Go through immigration
At the immigration counter, hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and boarding pass. The officer will stamp your passport with an entry stamp valid for up to 30 days. No extra forms needed.
