Active conflict — commercial flights suspended
Iran is currently in an active military conflict with the US (escalated July 2026, strikes near Tehran and Semnan province). Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport has suspended all scheduled commercial flights, and aviation authorities (EASA) advise against operating in Iranian airspace at all. Do not plan travel to Iran right now — check your government's official travel advisory and live flight status before making any arrangements. The visa information on this page describes the standard peacetime policy and may not be practically usable at the moment.
No visa on arrival — apply early
Myanmar passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Iran. You must have an approved e-visa before you fly. Apply at least 2 weeks ahead, and don't book non-refundable flights until your e-visa is approved.
Passport validity is strict
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date in Iran. If it's close to expiring, renew it before applying for the e-visa — otherwise, you'll be turned away at the airport.
E-visa is not extendable
Once you're in Iran, you cannot extend your e-visa. Plan your trip to fit within the allowed stay, and make sure you leave before the expiry date to avoid fines and potential entry bans.

What happens at the border

1
Choose your visa method
Decide whether to apply for an e-visa online (recommended to save time) or get a visa on arrival at the airport. If you choose the e-visa, go to the official Iranian e-visa website and fill out the application form. If you choose visa on arrival, just proceed to step 2.
2
Prepare your documents
Gather your passport, photos, travel insurance, flight itinerary, and accommodation details. If applying online, you'll upload scanned copies. For visa on arrival, keep all documents in your carry-on.
3
Arrive at the airport
When you land at an Iranian international airport (like Tehran Imam Khomeini), follow the signs to the 'Visa on Arrival' counter. You'll fill out a form, submit your documents, and pay the fee at the bank counter. The process usually takes 30-60 minutes.
4
Get your visa stamped
After payment, you'll receive a visa sticker in your passport. Then proceed to immigration control, where an officer will stamp your passport and let you through. Make sure the stamp shows the correct entry date and 30-day validity.
5
Exit Iran on time
Your visa is valid for 30 days from the date of entry. It cannot be extended. Plan your departure to avoid overstaying, which can result in fines and future entry bans.
