What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa online
Go to visawebapp.boca.gov.tw and fill out the visa application form. You'll need to upload a passport photo, your passport data page, and supporting documents like flight and hotel bookings. Pay the visa fee (around $50 USD, varies by visa type). Submit and wait for processing — typically 5-10 business days, but can take longer.
2
Receive your visa
Once approved, you'll get a visa sticker in your passport (if applying at an embassy) or an e-visa PDF. Print the e-visa and keep it with your passport. Check the validity dates — you must enter Taiwan before the visa expires.
3
Arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)
At immigration, present your passport with the visa, your boarding pass, and your return/onward ticket. The officer may ask about your accommodation and purpose of visit. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with your allowed stay (usually 30-90 days depending on visa type).
