Iran entry requirements for Malaysia passport holders
Malaysian passport holders can visit Iran without a visa for up to 14 days. This visa-free entry is for tourism only and cannot be extended. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must be valid for the duration of your stay | Your passport needs to be valid for the entire 14-day stay in Iran. Airlines at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will check this before boarding. No minimum 6-month validity is required beyond your departure date. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from Iran | Immigration at Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) in Tehran routinely asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready. Airlines may also check this at check-in. | Recommended |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | Have your hotel booking confirmation or host's address and phone number ready. Immigration officers at IKA sometimes ask for this, especially if you're arriving without a pre-arranged tour. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support yourself | Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a credit/debit card that works internationally. Iran's banking system is largely disconnected from global networks, so cash is the most reliable option. | Recommended |
