Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least the length of your stay in Uzbekistan. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers in Tashkent will verify it on arrival.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uzbekistan
Immigration officers at Tashkent International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure within 30 days.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card ready. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, showing $50–100 per day of stay is sufficient.Recommended
Visa-free entry is for 30 days only
The 30-day period starts from the day you enter. Count carefully — overstaying even by a day can result in a fine of around 200,000 UZS (about $18 USD) and a possible entry ban.
No visa needed for Malaysian passport holders
This is a straightforward entry. No application, no fee, no interview. Just show up with a valid passport and onward ticket.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport or land border
You'll go through immigration at Tashkent International Airport (TAS), Samarkand (SKD), or any land border crossing. Join the 'Foreign Passports' queue.
2
Present your passport and boarding pass
Hand over your passport and boarding pass (if flying). The officer will check your passport validity and may ask about your stay.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with a 30-day visa-free entry. No fee, no form. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it on departure.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. Green channel if nothing to declare.
