What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Burkina Faso eVisa portal (visaburkina.bf). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with the eVisa document. Print it out — you'll need a physical copy to show at immigration. Also save a PDF on your phone as backup.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before you leave, gather: your passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa, return/onward ticket, first-night accommodation booking, and travel insurance documents. Keep them in a folder you can access quickly.
4
Arrive in Burkina Faso and go through immigration
At Ouagadougou Airport (OUA) or any land border, join the immigration queue. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will check your documents, stamp your passport, and let you through. The whole process usually takes 5–15 minutes.
