Active conflict — commercial flights suspended
Iran is currently in an active military conflict with the US (escalated July 2026, strikes near Tehran and Semnan province). Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport has suspended all scheduled commercial flights, and aviation authorities (EASA) advise against operating in Iranian airspace at all. Do not plan travel to Iran right now — check your government's official travel advisory and live flight status before making any arrangements. The visa information on this page describes the standard peacetime policy and may not be practically usable at the moment.
E-visa is mandatory — no exceptions
Mozambican citizens cannot get a visa on arrival in Iran. You must have the e-visa approved before you fly. Airlines will not let you board without it.
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. If it expires sooner, your e-visa will be rejected and you'll be denied entry. Check your passport now.
Apply early — it's easy
The e-visa process is straightforward and entirely online. Start at least 2 weeks before your trip to avoid stress. Once approved, print the confirmation and you're good to go.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for an e-visa (optional but recommended)
Go to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs e-visa website, fill out the application form, upload your photo and passport scan, and pay the fee. Processing takes about 7–10 working days. Once approved, you'll receive a visa reference number to present on arrival.
2
Arrive at the airport in Iran
At Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA) in Tehran, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' after passport control. Join the queue at the visa desk, present your passport, photo, accommodation proof, and return ticket.
3
Pay the visa fee and get stamped
Pay the visa fee in euros or US dollars (cash only). The officer will issue your visa and stamp your passport. Then proceed to immigration control for entry.
4
Enter Iran and enjoy your stay
Once stamped, you're free to enter. Keep your passport safe — you'll need it for hotel check-ins and any police registration.
