Dutch passport holders need an eVisa to enter Myanmar. The eVisa covers tourism and business visits, and you apply online before travel. As of 2026, the process is straightforward, but you must meet a few key requirements.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official Ministry of Immigration portal. Processing takes up to 3 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email. Print two copies — one for the airline check-in counter and one for immigration upon arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Myanmar. Airlines at Schiphol and connecting hubs will check this before letting you board.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Yangon and Mandalay airports routinely ask for proof of a confirmed onward or return flight. Have a printed itinerary or e-ticket ready — a screenshot on your phone works too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Myanmar. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked tour.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Have at least $300 USD in cash or a recent bank statement showing sufficient funds. ATMs are scarce outside Yangon and Mandalay, so bring enough US dollars in crisp, undamaged bills.Recommended
eVisa is not extendable
The eVisa is valid for a single entry and cannot be extended. If you need to stay longer, you must leave Myanmar and reapply. Plan your trip accordingly.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa approval, passport, and hotel booking as PDFs or screenshots on your phone. Internet can be patchy, so offline access is a lifesaver.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $50 USD for tourism). Processing takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive an approval letter by email — print it or save a copy on your phone.
2
Prepare your documents before departure
Print or save on your phone: the eVisa approval, your passport (valid 6+ months), return/onward ticket, and first night hotel booking. Keep them together in a folder or a notes app.
3
Arrive at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport
Most international flights land at Yangon International Airport (RGN). Go to the immigration counter, present your passport and eVisa approval. The officer will stamp you in. The process usually takes 5–10 minutes. Have your return ticket and hotel booking ready in case they ask.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. You may be asked to show your customs declaration (if you have items to declare). Then you're free to leave the airport.
