Nepali passport holders need an eVisa to enter Burkina Faso. The process is entirely online, and you must have your approval before you travel. As of 2026, the eVisa is the only option for tourism or business visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Burkina Faso eVisa
Apply for your Burkina Faso eVisa at the official portal before departure. The online form takes about 15 minutes — upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee with a credit card; processing usually takes 3–5 business days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay
Your passport needs at least two blank pages for entry/exit stamps. Immigration at Ouagadougou Airport checks validity strictly — if you have under 6 months left, they may deny boarding in Kathmandu.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Burkina Faso
Airlines at Tribhuvan International Airport will ask for a confirmed onward ticket before issuing your boarding pass. Immigration officers in Ouagadougou also routinely check this — have a printed copy or a screenshot ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your first night's hotel confirmation ready — either printed or on your phone. If staying with a friend, a signed invitation letter with their address and phone number works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Carry a bank statement showing at least $500 USD or the equivalent in CFA francs. Immigration rarely asks, but if you look underprepared they may request proof of sufficient funds for your stay.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have the yellow fever vaccine and carry the International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card). Immigration at Ouagadougou airport checks this. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get the vaccine on the spot.
eVisa is the only option
There is no visa on arrival for Nepali passport holders. Do not show up at the airport without an approved eVisa — you will be turned away.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Burkina Faso eVisa website (visaburkina.bf). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in Ouagadougou.
3
Prepare your supporting documents
Before you fly, gather your return ticket, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance (if you have it). Keep digital copies on your phone and paper backups in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at Ouagadougou International Airport (OUA)
After landing, proceed to immigration. Present your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The process is usually straightforward if your documents are in order.
