Nepali passport holders need an eVisa to enter Myanmar. The eVisa is valid for tourism and business visits, and you must apply online before you travel. As of 2026, the process is straightforward, but you'll need a few documents ready.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official eVisa portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email. Print two copies — one for immigration and one for your airline check-in counter.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
6 months validity required
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration at Yangon and Mandalay airports enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Yangon International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready — they may deny boarding if you don't have one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking recommended
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have your hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. A simple printout or phone screenshot works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or card recommended
Carry at least $200 USD equivalent in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. ATMs in Myanmar are unreliable and often out of cash, so bring enough USD for your stay.Recommended
eVisa Only for Certain Airports
The eVisa is only valid for entry at Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw international airports. If you arrive by land or at a different airport, you need a different visa.
Keep Digital Copies
Save your eVisa, passport, and booking confirmations as PDFs on your phone. Also email them to yourself. If you lose your printed copy, you can show the digital version.
