Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for an Uzbekistan eVisa at e-visa.gov.uz at least 3 working days before departure. The eVisa is single-entry and valid for 30 days from the issue date. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Uzbekistan does not require 6 months validity beyond your departure date — just make sure it covers your entire stay.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Tashkent airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Officers may ask for it during entry questioning.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Have at least $100 USD equivalent in cash or a credit card statement ready. Officers rarely check this for short stays, but it helps if asked.Recommended
eVisa only for tourism and business
The Uzbekistan eVisa is for short visits (tourism, business, transit). If you plan to work, study, or stay longer than 30 days, you'll need a different visa from an embassy.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Uzbekistan, not from when you apply. Double-check before you submit.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to e-visa.gov.uz, create an account, fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 2–3 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF.
2
Pack your documents
Print a copy of the eVisa, or save it on your phone. Also have your passport, return ticket, and hotel booking easily accessible.
3
Arrive at the airport in Uzbekistan
At Tashkent International Airport or other entry points, proceed to the foreign passport queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly and you'll be stamped in.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel.
