Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your first night's hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Officers rarely ask, but it smooths things over if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least $500 USD equivalent. Officers almost never check it for Oman passport holders, but it's a legal requirement.Recommended
Check-Mig is mandatory
Complete the free Check-Mig form at migracioncolombia.gov.co between 72 and 1 hour before your flight. Without it, you may be denied boarding or face delays at immigration. Save the confirmation on your phone.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. Airlines check this before boarding, and immigration will deny entry if it's close to expiring. Renew early if needed.

What happens at the border

1
Complete Check-Mig online
Go to migracioncolombia.gov.co and fill out the Check-Mig form. Do this between 72 and 1 hour before your flight. You'll need your flight details, passport info, and accommodation address. Save the confirmation PDF or screenshot.
2
Prepare your documents
Before you reach immigration, have your passport, return ticket, Check-Mig confirmation, and accommodation booking ready. Keep them in a folder or on your phone for quick access.
3
Arrive at immigration in Colombia
At any Colombian airport (Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, etc.), follow signs to 'Migración' or 'Extranjeros'. Hand over your passport and the officer will stamp it. They may ask for your return ticket or Check-Mig — show the documents calmly.
4
Receive your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with a 90-day stay. Check the stamp before leaving the counter to confirm the dates are correct. If you need more time, you can apply for an extension later.

Frequently asked questions

No, the standard tourist stay is not extendable. You must leave before the 90 days are up. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban. If you need more time, you'd need to exit and re-enter, but immigration may question frequent visits.
You may be denied boarding by the airline or face delays at immigration. The form is free and takes 5 minutes. Do it 24-72 hours before departure. If you miss it, try completing it at the airport, but it's risky.
Not required for Omani passport holders arriving directly from Oman. However, if you've recently visited a country with yellow fever (e.g., Brazil, parts of Africa), you may need proof of vaccination. Check with your airline.
No. Immigration strictly enforces the 6-month validity rule. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before traveling. Airlines also check this before boarding.
No, it's not mandatory for entry. But it's strongly recommended. Medical costs in private hospitals can be high, and insurance covers emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost luggage.
The currency is the Colombian Peso (COP). Credit cards are widely accepted in cities, but carry some cash for small shops, taxis, and rural areas. ATMs are common but may charge fees.
Yes, you can work remotely for a foreign employer while on a tourist stay. But you cannot work for a Colombian company or provide local services. If you plan to stay longer, consider a digital nomad visa.
