What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-visa online
Go to the official Myanmar e-visa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around USD 50 for a tourist visa). Processing takes 3 working days — apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Receive and save your e-visa
You'll get an approval letter by email. Print a paper copy and save a PDF on your phone. Some airlines check this before you board your flight to Myanmar.
3
Arrive at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport
Most travellers fly into Yangon International Airport. At immigration, present your passport, printed e-visa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in — usually for 28 days. Have your accommodation address handy.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There's a customs declaration form to fill — just declare any expensive electronics or large amounts of cash. Then you're through.
