What happens at the border

1
Contact the nearest Myanmar embassy or consulate
Find the Myanmar embassy or consulate that covers your country of residence. Call or email them to confirm visa requirements, application forms, fees, and processing times. Some embassies require an in-person appointment.
2
Prepare your application package
Gather your passport (valid 6+ months), completed application form, 2 photos, flight and hotel bookings, and any other documents the embassy requested. Make copies of everything for your records.
3
Submit your application and pay the fee
Deliver your application in person or by mail, depending on the embassy's rules. Pay the visa fee as instructed. Ask for a receipt and note the expected processing time — typically 3 to 5 working days, but it can take longer.
4
Collect your passport with the visa
Once approved, you'll get your passport back with the visa sticker. Check that your name, passport number, and validity dates are correct. If anything is wrong, contact the embassy immediately.
5
Arrive at a Myanmar international airport
Fly into Yangon (RGN), Mandalay (MDL), or Naypyidaw (NYT) — the main international gateways. At immigration, present your passport with the visa, and be ready to show your return ticket and hotel booking if asked. You'll be fingerprinted and photographed.
