Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Singapore
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Singapore. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Singapore — a booking reference alone may not be accepted.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Singapore. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having a printed address ready speeds things up.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have access to at least 1,000 SGD (or equivalent in cash, credit card, or bank statement) for your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to show you are not working illegally.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity before boarding. If it's less than 6 months from your entry date, you'll be denied boarding — no exceptions. Renew your passport well in advance.
Keep a digital copy of your documents
Save screenshots of your return ticket, accommodation booking, and passport info page on your phone. If you lose your passport, these make replacement much easier.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date), print or screenshot your return ticket and first night's accommodation booking. Save them on your phone or have paper copies.
2
Arrive at Changi Airport or other entry point
At Changi Airport (the main entry), follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the foreign passport queue. Have your passport, boarding pass, and any supporting documents ready.
3
Present your passport to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask about your stay duration, purpose of visit, and where you're staying. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with a visit pass valid for up to 30 days.
4
Collect your luggage and proceed
After clearing immigration, collect your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel.
