Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least the full period you plan to stay in Tajikistan. Airlines at check-in may ask for 6 months validity beyond your departure date — if your passport expires sooner, carry a printed copy of the Tajik visa policy page showing the 30-day visa-free rule.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Tajikistan
Immigration officers at Dushanbe International Airport routinely ask for a printed or digital onward ticket showing you leave within 30 days. A bus ticket to Uzbekistan or a flight to Dubai works — just have the confirmation ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. Officers rarely check this for short stays, but if you arrive without a plan, they may ask where you're staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least $50 USD per day in cash or a credit card statement. Tajikistan is cash-heavy — bring crisp US dollars or euros to exchange at the airport or local banks.Recommended
Visa-free for 30 days only
Omani passport holders get 30 days visa-free. This is not extendable. If you plan to stay longer, get a visa before you travel. Overstaying can lead to fines and future entry problems.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. Tajikistan does not make exceptions. Check your passport now — if it's close to expiring, renew it before booking flights.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Dushanbe International Airport
Most travellers fly into Dushanbe (DYU). After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. There are usually two queues: one for Tajik citizens, one for foreigners. Join the foreigner queue.
2
Present your passport and ticket
Hand over your passport and your return/onward ticket if asked. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. No visa fee, no forms to fill.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. The green channel is for standard personal items. You're free to enter Tajikistan.
