Return or onward ticket
Recommended
Immigration officers at Taoyuan Airport may ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Hotel bookings or an invitation letter from your host can smooth the immigration process. Keep a copy on your phone or printed.Recommended
eVisa is digital — print a copy
The eVisa is sent by email as a PDF. Print it and keep it with your passport. A screenshot on your phone is not always accepted by immigration officers.
Passport validity counts from arrival, not departure
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Taiwan. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visawebapp.boca.gov.tw, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (if any). Processing takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email.
2
Prepare your documents
Print a copy of your eVisa approval, your return ticket, and your hotel booking. Keep your passport handy. Have a screenshot of your onward ticket saved on your phone.
3
Arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) or Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH)
Join the 'Foreigners' queue at immigration. Present your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket if asked. The officer will stamp your passport with an entry permit. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes.
