Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 90 days beyond your departure date from Macau. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Count from the day you leave, not the day you arrive.
Visa on arrival is free
The visa on arrival for Peruvian passport holders costs nothing. You don't need to pay any fee at immigration. The only costs are if you overstay (200 MOP/day) or apply for an extension (150 MOP).
No advance visa application needed
You can just show up at the border — no embassy visit, no online form, no waiting. Just have your passport and return ticket ready. This applies at all entry points: airport, ferry terminals, and land borders.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Macau International Airport or border checkpoint
Most travellers fly into Macau International Airport (MFM). You can also arrive by ferry from Hong Kong or Shenzhen, or by bus from mainland China. The visa-on-arrival process is the same at all entry points.
2
Join the immigration queue
At the airport, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Immigration'. Queues move quickly — usually 10–20 minutes. Have your passport and return ticket ready.
3
Present your documents to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport and any supporting documents (return ticket, hotel booking). The officer will check your passport validity and may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, length of stay). Answer honestly and briefly.
4
Receive your visa on arrival stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with a visa-on-arrival entry permit. It's free and valid for up to 30 days. Check the stamp to confirm the allowed stay period. Keep the arrival card stub if given one — you'll need it when you leave.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There are no additional checks for most tourists. You're now free to enter Macau.
