Peruvian passport holders can visit the Netherlands for up to 90 days without a visa. This applies to tourism, business, and family visits within the Schengen area. As of 2026, the rules remain unchanged — just make sure your passport is valid and you have a return ticket.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area
Your passport needs at least 3 months of validity after your departure date from the Netherlands. The 90-day Schengen limit applies across all 27 Schengen countries — you cannot reset it by hopping to another Schengen state. Airlines check this at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration at Schiphol Airport regularly asks for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Budget airlines like Ryanair and EasyJet also check this at boarding. A bus or train ticket to a non-Schengen country works too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation letter
Have your hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a signed invitation letter from your host ready. Border officers ask for it more often at Schiphol than at other Schengen airports. The booking must cover your entire stay.Recommended
Proof of funds
€55 per day of stay
The Netherlands requires €55 per day of your stay. A bank statement, credit card limit, or cash works. Immigration rarely asks for it, but if they do, you need to show the amount on the spot.Recommended
Overstay fines are steep
Overstaying the 90-day visa-free period costs €100 per day, with no cap. A 10-day overstay means a €1,000 fine. Worse, it can trigger a re-entry ban to the entire Schengen area. Set a calendar reminder to leave before day 90.
Schengen 90/180 rule applies
The 90-day visa-free period is not per country — it's for the entire Schengen area. You cannot spend 90 days in the Netherlands, then 90 days in France. The clock resets only after 180 days from your first entry. Use the Schengen calculator to track your days.
Schiphol is well-organized
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has clear signage in English and Dutch. The non-EU passport queue moves quickly. Have your passport, boarding pass, and return ticket ready. If you have a connecting flight, follow the 'Transfer' signs — you won't need to clear immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Schiphol Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for EU/EEA and non-EU passports. Join the non-EU queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The officer may ask about your stay, return ticket, and accommodation. Answer clearly and briefly.
2
Passport control interview
The officer will scan your passport and may ask: 'How long are you staying?', 'Where are you staying?', 'What is the purpose of your visit?'. Answer honestly. If you have a return ticket and accommodation, show them. The whole process usually takes 1-2 minutes.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim. If you have nothing to declare, use the green 'Nothing to declare' exit. If you have goods over €430 or restricted items, use the red channel.
