Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Paraguay. Airlines at Lima and other departure points may ask to see your passport before boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Outbound travel proof
Immigration officers at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Paraguay. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you can support yourself during your stay. No minimum amount is officially published, but around $50 per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
No visa needed, but have your documents ready
Paraguay is visa-free for Peruvians, but immigration officers can still ask for proof of onward travel and accommodation. Keep digital copies on your phone just in case.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's close to expiring, renew it before you go. You will be denied entry otherwise.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport (ASU) or a land border
Most travellers fly into Asunción. At the airport, follow signs to 'Migraciones' (Immigration). For land borders like Ciudad del Este or Encarnación, you'll walk into the immigration office before crossing.
2
Queue at the immigration counter
Join the line for foreign passports. Have your passport and any supporting documents (return ticket, accommodation) ready. The officer will check your passport, stamp it, and hand it back. Usually takes 2–5 minutes.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the number of days allowed (90). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. If it says fewer days, ask for clarification.
4
Proceed to baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your bags and walk through customs. There's usually a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods to declare. Random checks happen.
