Filipino passport holders need a visa to enter the United Kingdom in 2026. You must apply and receive approval before you travel — there is no visa-on-arrival or visa waiver for Philippine citizens. Plan ahead, as processing can take several weeks.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
UK Visa application
Visa required
You need a visa before traveling to the UK. Apply online at gov.uk/apply-uk-visa — the standard visitor visa costs £115 and takes 3 weeks to process. Submit your application, pay the fee, and attend a biometric appointment at a VFS Global center in Manila or Cebu.Apply for UK visaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Philippine passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in the UK. The UK does not require 6 months beyond your departure date, but your airline may enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
UK Border Force officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a return ticket to the Philippines or a ticket to your next destination ready. Airlines at NAIA will also check this before letting you board.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel booking confirmation or a letter from your UK host with their address and contact number. A simple printout or screenshot works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
You should show you can support yourself during your stay. Bank statements from the last 3 months showing at least £1,000–£2,000 (or equivalent in PHP) are usually enough. Credit card statements alone won't cut it.Recommended
Apply well in advance
UK visa processing from the Philippines can take 3–6 weeks, and longer during peak seasons. Don't book non-refundable flights or accommodation until your visa is approved.
No visa-on-arrival or e-visa
There is no visa-on-arrival at UK airports for Philippine passport holders. You must get a visa sticker in your passport before you travel. The UK does not offer e-visas for Philippine citizens.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your UK visa online
Go to gov.uk/apply-uk-visa, fill out the standard visitor visa application, pay the £115 fee, and book a biometric appointment at a VFS Global centre in Manila or Cebu. You'll need to upload supporting documents (bank statements, itinerary, accommodation) during the application.
2
Attend biometric appointment and submit passport
Show up at your scheduled VFS Global centre with your printed application, appointment confirmation, and passport. They'll take your photo and fingerprints, then keep your passport to process the visa sticker. Processing typically takes 3–6 weeks, so apply at least 2 months before your trip.
3
Collect your passport with visa sticker
Once approved, VFS will return your passport with the visa sticker inside. Check the sticker carefully — make sure your name, passport number, and validity dates are correct. If anything is wrong, contact VFS immediately.
4
Arrive in the UK and go through immigration
At the UK border (e.g., Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester), join the 'Non-EEA' queue. Hand over your passport with the visa sticker. The officer may ask about your plans, accommodation, and return ticket. Answer honestly and calmly. They'll usually stamp your passport with a 6-month entry.
