Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Burkina Faso eVisa at the official portal before departure. Processing takes 3–5 business days, so submit at least a week ahead. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Ouagadougou Airport will check it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Pakistani passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Burkina Faso. Airlines at Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration at Ouagadougou Airport routinely asks for a return or onward ticket showing you leave Burkina Faso before your eVisa expires. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready — they may check it at the counter.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Burkina Faso. Immigration officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to show you have enough money for your trip. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, they expect to see at least 150,000 CFA francs (roughly $250 USD) for a short visit.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine required
You must have a yellow fever vaccination and carry the International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card). Immigration may ask to see it upon arrival. Get the vaccine at least 10 days before travel.
eVisa is the only option
There is no visa on arrival for Pakistani passport holders. Apply online at visaburkina.bf at least a week before your trip. Keep the approval email or PDF handy at all times.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to visaburkina.bf, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport photo and a copy of your passport bio page, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email.
2
Print or save eVisa approval
Once approved, print a copy of the eVisa email or save the PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Ouagadougou.
3
Prepare supporting documents
Have your passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance ready. Keep digital copies on your phone and a printed backup in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at Ouagadougou Airport
At Ouagadougou International Airport, proceed to immigration. Present your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer may ask about your accommodation and purpose of visit. Answer clearly and briefly.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. There are no additional visa-on-arrival steps if you already have the eVisa. Head to the exit and arrange transport to your hotel.
