Required for entry
Immigration officers at Kathmandu airport routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to have on hand
While not always checked, having a hotel booking or trekking lodge reservation can speed up the visa-on-arrival process. Print the confirmation or save it on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds

Officials may ask how you'll fund your stay. Carry at least $200 USD in cash or have a credit card statement ready. ATMs are available in Kathmandu but less reliable in remote areas.Recommended
Cash only at visa counter
The visa on arrival counter does not accept credit or debit cards. Bring USD or EUR in cash — crisp, undamaged bills. ATMs are available after immigration, but you need cash to get through.
Photo booth available but costs extra
If you forget passport photos, there's a photo booth at the airport near the visa counter. It costs about $5 USD for 4 photos. Cheaper to bring your own.

What happens at the border

1
Fill out the arrival form
On the plane or at the airport, grab a 'Visa on Arrival' form. Fill in your details: passport info, flight number, hotel address. Keep it simple.
2
Queue at the visa counter
At Tribhuvan International Airport, head to the 'Visa on Arrival' counters (left side after baggage claim). There are separate queues for different nationalities — look for 'EU/Poland' or just join the general queue.
3
Pay the fee and get your visa
Hand over your form, passport, and cash. The officer will process payment and stick a visa in your passport. For a 15-day visa, it's $30 USD; 30 days is $50; 90 days is $125. You'll get a receipt.
4
Proceed to immigration
After the visa counter, walk to the immigration desks. Show your passport with the new visa sticker. They'll stamp you in. Done.
