Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date in Iran. Airlines check this strictly at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Outbound ticket
Immigration at IKA asks for a confirmed return or onward ticket before issuing the visa on arrival. Have a printed copy or the booking on your phone ready. Without it, you will be sent back to the visa counter to buy one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking
You need a confirmed hotel reservation for your entire stay in Iran. Immigration officers at the visa-on-arrival counter check this before approving the visa. A booking.com or similar confirmation works — have it printed or on your phone.Required
Proof of funds
Financial means
Immigration may ask how much cash or credit you carry. Have at least €500 or equivalent in euros or US dollars — credit cards from outside Iran do not work in the country. Bring enough cash for your stay.Recommended
Cash only for visa fee
The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in cash (euros or US dollars). There are no ATMs or card payment options at the counter. Bring the exact amount to avoid issues.
Women must wear a headscarf
All women, including foreign tourists, must cover their hair with a headscarf in public. This applies from the moment you step off the plane. Have one ready in your carry-on.
