Qatari passport holders need a visa to enter the United Kingdom in 2026. You must apply for a Standard Visitor visa (or the correct visa for your purpose) before you travel. There is no visa-free or visa-on-arrival option for tourism or business visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
UK Visa application
Apply for a Standard Visitor visa
Qatari passport holders need a Standard Visitor visa before traveling to the UK. Apply online at gov.uk/apply-uk-visa, pay the £115 fee, and attend a biometric appointment at a Visa Application Centre. Processing takes around 3 weeks, so apply well in advance.Apply for UK visaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the whole time you plan to be in the UK. There is no 6-month validity rule for Qatari nationals, but airlines may check for at least 6 months — confirm with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa application and at border
You need a confirmed return or onward ticket to leave the UK. Border officers at Heathrow and other ports check this regularly — have your booking confirmation ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel reservation or a letter from your UK host ready. Immigration officers may ask for this during the visa interview or at the border.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statements or payslips
Show you can support yourself during your stay — bank statements from the last 3 months or a sponsor letter work. UKVI expects enough to cover accommodation, food, and transport without working.Recommended
Visa required — apply well in advance
Do not book non-refundable flights or accommodation until your visa is approved. Processing times can be unpredictable, and a refusal means you lose that money. Apply at least 6–8 weeks before your planned travel date.
Biometric appointment in Doha
You must attend a biometric appointment in person at the VFS Global centre in Doha. You cannot submit your application by post or online only. Book your appointment as soon as you submit your online application — slots can fill up quickly.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your UK visa online
Go to gov.uk/apply-uk-visa and complete the online application form. You'll need to provide your travel dates, accommodation details, and answer questions about your purpose of visit. Pay the visa fee (currently £115 for a 6-month Standard Visitor visa).
2
Book and attend a biometric appointment
After submitting your application, book an appointment at the UK Visa Application Centre in Doha (operated by VFS Global). Bring your printed application, passport, and supporting documents. You'll have your fingerprints and photo taken.
3
Wait for visa processing
Standard processing takes about 3 weeks, but it can vary. You can pay extra for priority (5 working days) or super priority (next working day) service if available. Track your application online.
4
Collect your passport with visa vignette
Once approved, your passport will be returned with a visa sticker (vignette) inside. Check the dates and details are correct. The vignette is valid for entry within 30 days of the start date shown.
5
Arrive in the UK and go through immigration
At the UK border (e.g., Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester), join the 'All Other Passports' queue. Have your passport with the visa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer may ask about your trip — answer honestly and briefly.
