Romanian passport holders can get a visa on arrival at Cambodia's international airports and major land borders. This is the standard entry method for tourism, valid for a stay of up to 30 days. As of 2026, the process is straightforward but requires a few specific documents ready before you land.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Cambodia eVisa at evisa.gov.kh. The fee is $30 USD, and processing takes 3 working days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports scans the barcode on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your Romanian passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Cambodia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Cambodia ready — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have access to at least $500 USD in cash or on a card. Immigration may ask to see evidence of sufficient funds for your stay.Recommended
Cash only — no cards accepted
The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in US dollars cash. There are no ATMs before the visa counter. Bring exact change if possible. $30 for tourist, $35 for business.
Photo required — bring one to save time
You need one passport photo for the visa application. If you forget, airport photo booths are available but cost extra and add wait time.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before landing
Have your passport (6+ months validity), a passport photo, and $30 USD cash ready. Fill out the arrival card and visa application form on the plane or at the visa counter.
2
Go to the visa-on-arrival counter
After deplaning at Phnom Penh (PNH) or Siem Reap (SAI) airport, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival'. Join the queue, submit your passport, photo, completed form, and fee. Wait 5–15 minutes while they process it.
3
Collect your passport with visa sticker
When called, collect your passport. Check the visa sticker for correct dates (usually 30 days from entry). Then proceed to immigration control for entry stamp.
4
Pass through immigration
Show your passport with the new visa sticker and your boarding pass. The officer will stamp you in. Keep the departure card stub in your passport — you'll need it when leaving.
