Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least the length of your stay in Tajikistan. Airlines at check-in may ask to see your passport validity, but Tajikistan itself does not enforce a 6-month rule for Serbian passport holders.Required
Return or onward ticket
Recommended for visa-free entry
Immigration officers at Dushanbe International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready to show at the border.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to have on hand
While not strictly required, having a hotel booking or a letter of invitation from a host can speed up the immigration process. Officers may ask where you are staying, so have the address ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended for trouble-free entry
You are not required to show a specific amount, but carrying cash or a card with access to at least $50–$100 per day is wise. Immigration rarely asks, but having proof avoids delays.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Tajikistan, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, you'll be turned away.
No extension available
The 30-day visa-free stay cannot be extended. If you overstay, you may face fines or difficulties when leaving. Plan your trip accordingly.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport or land border
You'll enter Tajikistan at Dushanbe International Airport (DYU) or at a land border crossing like the one from Uzbekistan. At the airport, follow signs to 'Passport Control' or 'Foreigners'.
2
Present your passport and documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation booking. Have them ready on your phone or printed. Answer any questions clearly.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (30 days). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. If the dates look wrong, ask politely for a correction.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if arriving by air), then customs. You're free to enter Tajikistan.
