Serbian passport holders need a visa to enter Taiwan in 2026. You must apply online before you travel — there is no visa-on-arrival or visa-waiver program for Serbian citizens. Plan ahead, as processing can take a couple of weeks.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply for a Taiwan eVisa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs portal. Processing takes 2–5 working days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration will scan the barcode at the counter.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Serbian passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended departure date from Taiwan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of exit
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket out of Taiwan. A flight booking or ferry reservation to a third country works. Without one, you risk being refused entry at Taoyuan or Kaohsiung airport.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel or host confirmation
Have a printed or digital hotel booking, hostel voucher, or an invitation letter from your host in Taiwan. Immigration may ask for it during secondary inspection, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 20,000 TWD (around 600 EUR). Taiwan rarely enforces a strict minimum, but officers can ask if you look underfunded or have no return ticket.Recommended
No visa on arrival
Serbian passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport. You must have an approved visa before you fly. Airlines will check this at check-in — without it, you won't be allowed to board.

What happens at the border

1
Apply online for a visa
Go to https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw and fill out the application. Upload a passport-style photo (white background, 2x2 inches) and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online — around 50 USD for a single-entry visa. Processing takes 5–10 business days.
2
Wait for approval and print your visa
Once approved, you'll receive a visa certificate by email. Print it out and carry it with your passport. You may also need to show it at check-in.
3
Arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)
At immigration, present your passport, printed visa, and return ticket. The officer may ask about your accommodation and purpose of visit. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp allowing a stay up to the visa's validity (usually 30 days).

Frequently asked questions

Typically 5–10 business days after you submit the online application. Apply at least 2 weeks before your trip to be safe. During peak seasons (Chinese New Year, summer holidays) it can take longer.
No. The visa is not extendable. You must leave before the visa expiry date. Overstaying can result in fines and a ban from re-entering.
You can apply for a longer-stay visa (e.g., visitor visa for up to 90 days) at the same online portal. The process is similar but may require additional documents like a detailed itinerary or invitation letter.
Not officially required for Serbian passport holders, but it's smart to have a credit card or bank statement handy. If the officer suspects you can't support yourself, they may ask.
No. Serbia is not on Taiwan's visa-waiver list, regardless of other visas you hold. You must get a Taiwan visa in advance.
You'll receive an email with the reason. Common issues: incorrect documents, insufficient validity, or unclear travel purpose. You can reapply after fixing the problem, but there's no guarantee. Consider consulting the nearest Taiwan embassy or representative office.
