Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Get a visa on arrival at any Thai international airport or land border checkpoint. Pay 2,000 THB in cash (Thai baht only) and present a passport photo. The visa allows a single entry for up to 15 days — no extensions possible.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 30 days beyond your intended stay. Airlines at Belgrade (BEG) check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Ticket out of Thailand
Immigration officers at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang routinely ask for proof of onward travel within 15 days. Budget airlines like AirAsia and Nok Air enforce this strictly — have a printed or digital boarding pass ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host address
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their Thai address and phone number. Officers rarely ask, but if you're flagged for secondary screening, they'll want to see where you're staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial evidence
Have at least 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family in cash, traveler's cheques, or a bank statement. Immigration can ask to see it — especially if you arrive without a return ticket or hotel booking.Recommended
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)Thailand Digital Arrival Card — a free 2-minute online pre-registration at tdac.immigration.go.th. Not mandatory, but gets you through the immigration queue faster.
Online pre-registration
Fill out the free TDAC form at tdac.immigration.go.th before your flight. It's optional, but having the QR code ready lets you skip the paper queue at immigration — takes 2 minutes online.Open TDAC formOptional
Visa on arrival is not extendable
You cannot extend the 15-day stay. If you overstay, you'll be fined 500 THB per day and risk being banned from re-entering Thailand. Plan your exit carefully.
Cash only at visa-on-arrival counter
The fee must be paid in Thai Baht cash. No cards, no foreign currency. Have 2,000 THB per person ready before you join the queue.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport
After landing at any Thai international airport (BKK, DMK, HKT, CNX, etc.), follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' — not the regular immigration queue. The counter is usually before passport control.
2
Submit documents and pay
Hand over your passport, completed TM88 form, photo, return ticket proof, accommodation booking, and 2,000 THB cash. The officer will check everything and take your passport for processing.
3
Wait for processing
Processing takes about 10–30 minutes depending on the queue. You'll get a receipt and wait nearby. Some airports have a seating area.
4
Collect passport and proceed
When your name is called, collect your passport with the visa sticker and entry stamp. Then head to the regular immigration queue for final clearance.
