Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply at the official Vietnam eVisa portal at evisa.xuatnhhcanh.gov.vn. The fee is $25 USD for single entry or $50 USD for multiple entry, valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3 working days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Vietnam
Immigration officers at Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City routinely ask for a flight out of Vietnam within your eVisa validity. Have a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket ready — budget airlines sometimes check this at check-in too.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. Officers rarely ask, but if they do and you have nothing, you may face delays or a secondary inspection.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have access to at least $500 USD in cash or a credit card. Immigration does not usually check this for eVisa holders, but it helps if they question your stay duration or purpose.Recommended
eVisa is the only option for tourism
Serbian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Vietnam. You must apply for the eVisa online before you travel. No exceptions.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's even one day short, you'll be denied boarding or entry. Check your passport now.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Vietnam eVisa website (evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport data page. Pay the fee (around $25 USD) by card. You'll receive a confirmation email with a reference number.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3 working days. Check your email (including spam) for the approval letter. It will be a PDF with your photo and visa details. Print it or save it on your phone.
3
Arrive at the airport in Vietnam
At any international airport in Vietnam (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, etc.), go to the immigration counter. Have your passport, printed eVisa (or phone), and return ticket ready. The officer will check and stamp you in.
4
Show your onward ticket and accommodation
Immigration may ask for proof of your return flight and where you're staying. Have your booking confirmations easily accessible on your phone.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim and customs. That's it — you're in Vietnam.
