Serbian passport holders can get a visa on arrival at all major entry points in Tanzania. The process is straightforward: you fill out a form, pay the fee in cash (USD), and receive your visa at the counter. This has been the standard procedure since 2025.

Entry requirements

Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Get your visa on arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR), Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), and other designated entry points. Have $50 USD in cash for a single-entry tourist visa (valid 90 days). Bring a passport photo — if you don't have one, they'll charge an extra $10 USD at the counter.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Serbian passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Tanzania. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward flight ticket. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone. If you're overlanding to a neighboring country, a bus ticket or ferry booking works too.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your first night's hotel confirmation ready. If staying with friends, a letter of invitation with their contact details and address is accepted. Safari operators often provide a booking voucher that covers your entire itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least $200 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. ATMs are unreliable outside major cities — bring enough USD to cover your trip. Credit cards work at upscale hotels and safari lodges but not at smaller guesthouses.Recommended
Cash only — no cards accepted
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in US dollars cash. ATMs at the airport may be out of service or charge high fees. Bring $50–$100 in crisp, undamaged bills.
E-visa option available
You can apply for an e-visa online before you travel. It costs the same $50 USD and takes 3–5 business days. The advantage: you skip the visa-on-arrival queue, which can be long at peak hours.

What happens at the border

1
Fill out the arrival form
On the plane or at the airport, you'll receive a small immigration card. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and the address of your first hotel.
2
Queue at the Visa on Arrival counter
At Julius Nyerere International Airport (Dar es Salaam), Kilimanjaro International Airport, or Zanzibar's Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, head to the 'Visa on Arrival' desk. Do not join the regular immigration queue yet.
3
Submit documents and pay
Hand over your passport, completed arrival card, return ticket (show on phone), and $50 USD. The officer will process the visa and stick it into your passport.
4
Proceed to immigration
Once you have the visa sticker, move to the main immigration queue. The officer will stamp you in. Keep your passport handy for the exit stamp when you leave.
