Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Russian passport holders need an eVisa for Myanmar. Apply at the official Myanmar eVisa Portal (Ministry of Immigration) at least 3 business days before departure. The eVisa costs $50 USD and allows a single entry for up to 28 days — not the 30-day visa-free period mentioned elsewhere.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Immigration at Yangon and Mandalay airports checks this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Myanmar
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket within your eVisa's validity period. Airlines at check-in also enforce this — without one, you won't board.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a printed hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Myanmar. Immigration may ask for it at the counter, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked tour.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or bank statement
Carry at least $300 USD in cash or a bank statement showing equivalent funds. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to prove you can support yourself during your stay.Recommended
Visa-free entry is not extendable
You cannot extend your 30-day stay. If you need more time, apply for a tourist visa (typically 28 days, extendable) before you leave Russia. Overstaying even one day results in a fine.
Arrive by air only
Visa-free entry is only valid when arriving by plane at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airports. Land border crossings are not an option for visa-free travel.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date) and that you have at least 1 blank page. Book your return/onward ticket and first night accommodation. Print or save digital copies of your booking confirmations and insurance policy.
2
Arrive at a designated airport
You must fly into Yangon International Airport (RGN), Mandalay International Airport (MDL), or Naypyidaw International Airport (NYT). Land border crossings are not open for visa-free entry.
3
Fill out the arrival card
On the plane or at the airport, you'll receive an arrival/departure card. Fill it out in English with your passport details, flight number, and address in Myanmar (your hotel). Keep the departure card safe — you'll need it when leaving.
4
Proceed to immigration counter
Join the 'Foreigners' queue. Hand over your passport, arrival card, and (if asked) your return ticket and hotel booking. The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day visa-free entry. No fee is charged.
5
Collect baggage and exit
After clearing immigration, collect your luggage from the carousel and proceed through customs. There are no currency declaration requirements for amounts under $10,000 or equivalent.
