What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to https://evisa.gov.mz/ and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, and a digital photo. The fee is around $50–$80 USD, payable by card. Processing typically takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.
2
Receive your e-visa by email
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print it out and also save it on your phone. Check that your name and passport number match exactly — any typo means you'll be turned away.
3
Arrive at Maputo or Beira airport
At immigration, present your passport, e-visa, and return ticket. The officer will scan your passport, stamp it, and let you through. The whole process usually takes 10–15 minutes if you have all documents ready. There are no separate queues for e-visa holders — just the regular foreigner line.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, grab your bags and walk through customs. There's a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel if you have goods over the duty-free limit. Keep your passport handy — you may be asked to show it again at the exit.

Frequently asked questions

Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but it can take longer during peak season. Apply at least a week before your flight to be safe. The official site is https://evisa.gov.mz/.
No, the e-visa is not extendable. You must leave the country within 30 days. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to exit and re-enter with a new e-visa, but that's not guaranteed to work — plan your trip accordingly.
Only if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever risk (most of Africa and South America). If you're flying directly from Russia, you don't need it. But if you have a layover in, say, Ethiopia or Kenya, you'll need the certificate. Check the WHO list before you go.
You'll be denied entry and put on the next flight back. There's no visa-on-arrival for Russian passport holders at Maputo or Beira airports. Don't risk it — get the e-visa beforehand.
Yes, the e-visa is valid for entry at any official border post, including land crossings from South Africa, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Zambia, and Malawi. Just make sure you have the printed e-visa with you.
The fee varies depending on nationality and processing speed, but for Russian citizens it's typically around $50–$80 USD. You pay online with a credit or debit card. There are no additional fees at the airport.
No, it's a single-entry visa. If you leave Mozambique and want to come back, you'll need to apply for a new e-visa. Keep that in mind if you're planning to visit neighboring countries during your trip.
