Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Tajikistan. Tajikistan does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but airlines may enforce their own rules — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Dushanbe International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone — they rarely accept verbal promises.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host. Border officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Evidence of sufficient money
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you can cover your stay. The official minimum is around $50 per day, but officers rarely check this for short visits.Recommended
Registration after 10 days
If you stay longer than 10 days, you must register with the Migration Service. Hotels do this automatically. If staying privately, go to the local OVIR office within 10 days of arrival. Failure to register can result in fines and exit delays.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Tajikistan requires 6 months of passport validity from your entry date. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to fly.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Dushanbe International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for Tajik citizens and foreigners. Join the foreigner queue (usually shorter). Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present your passport and ticket
Hand over your passport and your return/onward ticket (printed or on phone). The officer will check your passport validity, stamp you in, and return your passport. No forms to fill.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel if nothing to declare. You're free to enter.
