Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date from Tajikistan
Your passport must have at least 3 months validity remaining after your planned exit from Tajikistan. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Carry a photocopy of the bio-data page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel required
Immigration officers at Dushanbe International Airport routinely ask for a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket. Budget airlines flying into Tajikistan also check this at check-in. Have the booking confirmation ready on your phone or as a printout.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel confirmation email or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. If you are staying with friends, ask them to meet you at the airport or provide a written invitation.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Officers occasionally ask for proof you have enough money for your trip. Carry a recent bank statement or a credit card with a visible limit. No specific minimum amount is published, but having the equivalent of $50 per day in cash or available credit covers you.Recommended
Registration after 10 days
If you stay longer than 10 days, you must register with the Migration Service. Hotels do this automatically. If staying privately, go to the local OVIR office within 10 days of arrival. Failure to register can result in fines and exit delays.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Tajikistan requires 6 months of passport validity from your entry date. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to fly.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Dushanbe International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for Tajik citizens and foreigners. Join the foreigner queue (usually shorter). Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present your passport and ticket
Hand over your passport and your return/onward ticket (printed or on phone). The officer will check your passport validity, stamp you in, and return your passport. No forms to fill.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel if nothing to declare. You're free to enter.
