Cash only at visa counter
The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in cash — US dollars or Mozambican metical. Cards are not accepted. Bring small bills and exact change if possible. ATMs at the airport may have long queues or be out of service.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at immigration counter
At Maputo International Airport (MPM) or other entry points, head to the 'Visa on Arrival' counter. There's usually a separate queue from pre-approved visa holders.
2
Submit documents and pay fee
Hand over your passport, completed arrival card (given on the plane or at the counter), and your return ticket. Pay the visa fee in cash (USD or MZN). The officer will process and print the visa sticker.
3
Receive visa and proceed
Once the sticker is affixed, you'll get your passport back. The visa is usually valid for 30 days. Then head to baggage claim and customs.
