Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Philippine immigration strictly enforces the 6-month passport validity rule. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding by the airline. Carry a photocopy of your passport bio page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Philippines
Immigration officers at Manila, Cebu, and Clark routinely ask for a return or onward ticket within 30 days. Budget airlines (Cebu Pacific, AirAsia) check this at check-in. A printed itinerary or mobile boarding pass works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital hotel confirmation for your entire stay. If staying with friends or family, have their address and contact number written down. Immigration may ask for this if you look uncertain about where you're staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, card, or bank statement
Have at least PHP 10,000 (around $180 USD) in cash or a credit card with available limit. Immigration occasionally asks to see funds, especially for first-time visitors. An ATM card works but cash is cleaner.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity at check-in. If it's less than 6 months from your entry date, you won't be allowed to board. Double-check before you go.
eTravel registration is mandatory
Complete the online eTravel form at etravel.gov.ph within 72 hours before your flight. Without the QR code, you may face delays at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before your flight
Check your passport validity (6+ months beyond entry date). Print or save your return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Download an eSIM or buy a local SIM at the airport.
2
Fill out the arrival card (eTravel)
Complete the online eTravel registration within 72 hours before your flight. You'll get a QR code — save it on your phone. This replaces the paper arrival card.
3
Arrive at a Philippine airport
At Manila (NAIA), Cebu, or Clark, follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' immigration. Queue in the 'Visa-Free' or 'Foreign Nationals' lane.
4
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport, return ticket (printed or on phone), and the eTravel QR code. The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day stay. Answer any questions about your plans briefly and honestly.
5
Collect baggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green lane. Exit into the arrivals hall.
