Swedish passport holders can enter Armenia without a visa for stays up to 180 days per year. This has been the case since 2015, and there are no plans to change it. Just show up at the border with your passport, and you'll get a stamp valid for six months.

Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Swedish passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Armenia. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Armenian law, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.
Required
Return or onward ticket
Recommended for visa-free entry
Immigration officers at Zvartnots Airport in Yerevan routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.
Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Recommended for visa-free entry
Border officers may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from a host in Armenia ready to show.
Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended for visa-free entry
You may be asked to show you have enough money for your stay. Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 50,000 AMD (around $130 USD) per day of your visit.
Recommended
No visa needed — but keep proof of onward travel
Swedish passport holders can stay up to 180 days visa-free. However, immigration officers may ask to see a return or onward ticket. Have a screenshot ready on your phone to avoid delays.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this before boarding, and border officers check it on arrival. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be turned away.
What happens at the border
1
Arrive at the border
Whether you fly into Zvartnots Airport in Yerevan or cross by land from Georgia, Iran, or Turkey, you'll join the queue for foreign passports. There are separate lines for Armenian citizens and foreigners.
2
Present your passport
Hand over your Swedish passport. The officer will check your photo and validity. They may ask your purpose of visit (tourism, business, visiting friends) and how long you plan to stay.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and a note that you can stay up to 180 days. No visa sticker, no fee. The whole process takes 1–2 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if you checked bags), then walk through the green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're now officially in Armenia.
Enter your arrival date and we'll tell you exactly when you need to leave.

You will be denied boarding by the airline or entry at the border. Renew your passport before traveling. The 6 months are counted from your entry date, not your departure date.
