Slovenian passport holders need a visa to enter Kenya in 2026. You must apply online before you travel through the eVisa system — there are no visas on arrival for tourism. The process is straightforward, but you'll need a few documents ready.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Kenya eVisa at the official eTA portal. Processing takes 2–3 business days, but apply at least a week before departure. The eVisa is single-entry and valid for 90 days from issue.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6+ months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Kenya. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of exit required
Immigration officers at JKIA ask for a return or onward ticket before issuing entry. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. A bus or ferry ticket to a neighboring country also works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. Immigration may ask for it if you look uncertain about where you are staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a bank statement showing sufficient funds for your stay. ATMs at JKIA dispense Kenyan shillings, but cash in USD is preferred for safaris and park fees.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no exceptions
There are no visas on arrival for tourism. Apply online at www.etakenya.go.ke at least a week before you fly. Print the approval or save a PDF on your phone.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you land in Kenya, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to www.etakenya.go.ke, create an account, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and passport scan, and pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing usually takes 2–5 business days.
2
Pack your documents
Print or save on your phone: the eVisa approval, return flight booking, and first night accommodation confirmation. Keep them together in a folder or a notes app.
3
Arrive at JKIA (Nairobi) or Moi International (Mombasa)
At immigration, join the 'Visitors' queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa approval. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation — show the documents. They'll stamp your passport, usually for up to 90 days.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, head to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. You're in.

Frequently asked questions

No. Kenya ended visas on arrival for most nationalities in 2021. You must apply for an eVisa before you travel. The only exception is for transit passengers staying under 24 hours and not leaving the airport.
A single-entry tourist eVisa costs around $50 (paid online in USD). There's also a $30 transit visa if you're just passing through. Fees are subject to change — check the official eVisa site for current prices.
Typically 2–5 business days. Apply at least a week before your flight to be safe. Processing can take longer during peak travel seasons or if there are errors in your application.
The standard tourist eVisa allows a stay of up to 90 days. Immigration officers at the port of entry decide the exact duration — they usually give the full 90 days, but always check the stamp in your passport.
Yes, you can apply for an extension at the Department of Immigration in Nairobi or Mombasa. Extensions are granted in 3-month increments, but the process can take a few weeks and costs around $50. Start the process before your current visa expires.
Kenya requires a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you're arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever. If you're flying directly from Slovenia, you don't need it. But if you've recently been in a yellow fever zone (e.g., parts of South America or sub-Saharan Africa), you'll need to show the certificate.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your documents are incomplete or your passport photo doesn't meet specs. You'll get an email explaining the reason. You can reapply with corrected information — no penalty, but you'll pay the fee again.
