Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official Ministry of Immigration portal. Processing takes 3–5 working days, and the eVisa is valid for 90 days from issue. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw airports will stamp you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity
Your Slovak passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration at Yangon will deny boarding if your passport expires sooner.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Overland exits are possible but you still need a confirmed departure.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking recommended
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A booking.com confirmation works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show cash or card
Have at least $300 USD equivalent in cash or a credit card statement showing available funds. Immigration rarely checks this for short tourist stays, but it's safer to carry some US dollars — ATMs are unreliable outside major cities.Recommended
eVisa is for tourism only
The standard eVisa is for tourism (including visiting friends/family) and business (meetings, conferences). It does not allow paid work or long-term stays. If you plan to work, volunteer, or study, you need a different visa from a Myanmar embassy.
Keep a copy of your eVisa
Print two copies of your eVisa approval — one for your bag, one for your wallet. Also save a digital copy on your phone. Immigration at Yangon airport scans the barcode, so a clear printout is essential.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa Online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and upload a passport-style photo. Pay the fee (around $50 USD for tourism) with a credit card. You'll receive a confirmation email within 3 business days.
2
Print or Save Your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF. Print a paper copy and also save it on your phone. Immigration at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airports will scan the barcode.
3
Prepare Your Documents for Departure
Before your flight, have your passport, eVisa printout, return ticket, and hotel booking ready. Airlines may check these at check-in.
4
Arrival at Myanmar Airport
At immigration, present your passport and eVisa. The officer will stamp you in for up to 28 days. Keep the arrival card (if given) safe — you'll need it when leaving.
