Thai passport holders need a visa to enter Andorra. There is no visa-free access or visa-on-arrival option. You must apply for a multiple-entry Schengen visa (since Andorra has no airport and is only reachable via Spain or France) before your trip. This applies in 2026.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Visa required
Andorra does not have its own visa system — you need a valid Schengen visa or a multiple-entry visa from France or Spain to enter. Apply at the French or Spanish embassy or consulate in Thailand before travel. The visa must be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Andorra.Check visa infoRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Thai passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Andorra. Since Andorra is landlocked between France and Spain, border officers from either country will check your passport on entry — they enforce the same rules as Schengen entry.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at the French or Spanish border crossing into Andorra will ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight ticket or a bus/train ticket out of Andorra ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Carry a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Andorra. Border officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays if questioned.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Have bank statements or cash showing at least 20,000 THB per person (or equivalent in euros). Officers at the border may ask how you plan to cover your stay — showing funds speeds things up.Recommended
Multiple-entry visa is non-negotiable
This is the most common mistake. A single-entry Schengen visa will trap you in Andorra because you can't re-enter Spain or France to fly home. Always request 'multiple entries' on your application.
No airport in Andorra
You must fly into Spain or France first, then drive or take a bus. Plan your Schengen visa application based on the country you'll transit through (Spain or France).

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a multiple-entry Schengen visa at the Spanish or French embassy
Since Andorra has no embassy or visa-issuing authority, you must apply for a multiple-entry Schengen visa at the Spanish or French embassy in Thailand. Submit your application at least 4-6 weeks before travel. Include your Andorran hotel booking and a brief itinerary explaining you'll visit Andorra. The visa fee is about €80 (approx. 3,000 THB) plus service charges.
2
Fly to Barcelona or Toulouse
Most travellers fly into Barcelona El Prat (BCN) or Toulouse-Blagnac (TLS). From there, take a bus or rental car to Andorra. The drive from Barcelona takes about 3 hours.
3
Enter Schengen zone at Spanish/French border
When you land in Spain or France, you'll go through Schengen immigration. Show your passport, visa, return ticket, and accommodation proof. They'll stamp your passport. This is the critical checkpoint.
4
Travel to Andorra by road
From Barcelona, take a direct bus (Andbus or Novatel) to Andorra la Vella. From Toulouse, buses also run. There is no border control between Spain/France and Andorra, but keep your passport and visa handy.
5
Exit Andorra and re-enter Schengen
When you leave Andorra, you'll cross back into Spain or France. You'll need your multiple-entry Schengen visa to re-enter. The border officer may ask where you stayed and how long. Show your passport and visa.
6
Fly home from Barcelona or Toulouse
Return to the airport and go through Schengen exit control. Your passport will be stamped out. Make sure your visa hasn't expired.

Frequently asked questions

No. Andorra has no visa-on-arrival facility. You must have a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa before you arrive at the Spanish or French border.
Andorra is not part of the Schengen Area. When you enter Spain or France, you use one entry of your visa. To return from Andorra back into Spain or France, you need a second entry. A single-entry visa would be used up on arrival, leaving you stuck outside Schengen.
Processing usually takes 15 calendar days, but can take up to 45 days during peak season. Apply at least 4-6 weeks before your trip. The fee is about €80 (approx. 3,000 THB) plus service charges.
No. A valid multiple-entry Schengen visa is all you need. Andorra does not issue its own visas for short stays.
You will not be allowed to re-enter Spain or France after visiting Andorra. You'd be stuck in Andorra and would need to apply for a new visa from there — which is not possible since Andorra has no embassy. Always get a multiple-entry visa.
No. Andorra has no commercial airport. The only way in is by road from Spain or France. The nearest airports are Barcelona (BCN) and Toulouse (TLS).
No formal border control between Spain/France and Andorra. But you must have your passport and visa ready because Spanish or French police sometimes conduct random checks on the road.
