Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Saudi Arabia Tourist eVisa
Apply online at visa.visitsaudi.com before you fly. The eVisa costs $135 USD, includes mandatory medical insurance, and allows multiple entries up to 90 days. Approval usually comes within minutes — print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Saudi Arabia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Saudi airports routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready — they may deny entry if you cannot show one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your Saudi host. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having the address and contact number ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or at least $1,000 USD in cash or traveler's checks. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to show you can cover your stay.Recommended
Visa on arrival is not extendable
You cannot extend the 30-day visa on arrival. If you need more time, you must apply for a different visa type before you travel. Overstaying is expensive and can get you banned.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save screenshots of your return ticket, hotel booking, and passport info page on your phone. Immigration may ask to see them, and having them ready speeds things up.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the visa-on-arrival counter
After landing at King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) in Jeddah, or King Fahd International Airport (DMM) in Dammam, follow signs to the 'Visa on Arrival' counter. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation details ready.
2
Pay the visa fee
Pay the visa fee (around 480 SAR, roughly 4,800 THB) by credit/debit card or cash. Keep the receipt.
3
Receive your visa sticker
The officer will stamp a visa sticker into your passport. Check the validity dates and your name spelling before leaving the counter.
4
Proceed to immigration
Go to the immigration queue with your passport and visa. You may be asked for your return ticket and accommodation again. Answer questions clearly.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After passing immigration, collect your checked luggage from the carousel and proceed through customs. You're now legally in Saudi Arabia.
