Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Tunisian passport holders need an eVisa to enter the UAE. Apply through the ICA Smart Services portal at least a few days before your flight — processing usually takes 3–5 working days. You'll need a scanned passport copy, a digital photo, and a credit card for the fee (around 300–500 AED depending on visa type).Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into the UAE. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding. Carry a copy of your passport bio page separately in your carry-on.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for all visitors
Immigration officers at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. If you're flying out to another country, have that booking ready. Airlines also check this before issuing your boarding pass.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your UAE host ready. Immigration may ask where you're staying — if you're visiting family, your host's Emirates ID and tenancy contract help. No formal requirement, but better to have it printed or on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Carry a recent bank statement or enough cash/credit to cover your stay. UAE immigration rarely asks, but if you're staying with friends or on a tight budget, a statement showing 2,000–3,000 AED equivalent helps. ATMs are everywhere in the UAE.Recommended
Apply early — don't wait until the last minute
eVisa processing can take up to 3 business days. If you apply too close to your departure date, you risk not getting approval in time. Always apply at least 7 days ahead.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, flight booking, hotel confirmation, and passport photo on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose a printed copy, you can still show them at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your eVisa online
Go to the ICA smart services website (smartservices.ica.gov.ae) and fill out the eVisa application. Upload a digital passport photo and a copy of your passport data page. Pay the fee (around AED 100-150) with a credit card. Processing usually takes 1-3 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa PDF. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in the UAE.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before you leave for the airport, gather: your passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa, return flight booking, hotel confirmation, and travel insurance. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at a UAE airport and go through immigration
At Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Sharjah airport, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. You'll get a free entry stamp valid for up to 30 days.
