Visa on arrival
Jordan visa on arrival
Tunisian passport holders get a visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport and most land borders. Cost is 40 JOD for a single-entry visa valid for 30 days. Have the exact fee in Jordanian dinars ready — the counter does not give change in foreign currency.Check visa detailsRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Jordan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready. Without one, you may be asked to purchase a ticket on the spot.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Jordan. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Have at least 500 JOD (or equivalent in cash or credit card) available per person. Immigration rarely checks, but if asked, you need to show you can cover your stay.Recommended
Cash only at the visa counter
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in Jordanian Dinars in cash. No credit or debit cards accepted. ATMs are available but can run out of cash — bring enough from home.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Jordan requires 6 months of passport validity from your entry date. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to fly.

What happens at the border

1
Land at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) or a land border
Most Tunisians arrive by air at Amman's main airport. If coming overland from Israel or the West Bank, the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby) and other crossings also issue visas on arrival.
2
Follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' counters
After passport control, look for the clearly marked visa counters before the baggage claim area. Join the queue, hand over your passport and the fee.
3
Pay the fee and receive your visa sticker
Pay 40 JOD in cash. The officer will affix a visa sticker in your passport. This takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
4
Proceed to passport control
With the visa in your passport, go to the immigration officer. They may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking. Answer clearly, get stamped in, and collect your bags.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, most land borders issue visas on arrival for Tunisians, including the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby) from the West Bank, the Sheikh Hussein Bridge from Israel, and the Ramtha crossing from Syria. The fee is the same 40 JOD. The Wadi Araba crossing from Eilat or Aqaba also works, but double-check current hours.
The standard visa on arrival is valid for 30 days. You can extend it once at a police station or immigration office in Jordan for an additional 30 days — the fee is about 20 JOD. Overstaying costs 1.5 JOD per day.
You must pay in Jordanian Dinars. There are ATMs and currency exchange counters before the visa counter at Queen Alia Airport, but they can be crowded. Best to bring cash from home or exchange at your departure airport.
If you stay airside and don't pass through immigration, no visa is needed. But if you want to leave the airport during a layover, you'll need the visa on arrival — same process and fee.
Jordan does offer an e-visa for some nationalities, but Tunisians are not eligible. The visa on arrival is your only option unless you apply at a Jordanian embassy before travel, which is more expensive and slower.
You will be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry at the border. Renew your passport before traveling. No exceptions.
No, the standard 40 JOD visa is single-entry. If you leave Jordan, for example to Israel or the West Bank, and want to return, you'll need to pay for a new visa on arrival each time.
