Tunisian passport holders need a visa to enter Kenya. You can apply online for an eVisa before you travel — it's straightforward and usually processed within a few days. As of 2026, the eVisa is the standard way to get authorization for tourism, business, or transit.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Kenya eVisa
Apply for a Kenya eVisa at the official eTA portal before departure. The application takes about 15 minutes and costs around $30 USD. Approval usually comes within 2–3 business days — do not book non-refundable flights until you have the visa in hand.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay
Your Tunisian passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Kenya. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at JKIA routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready. Without one, you risk being refused entry and put on the next flight back.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Kenya. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having a booking confirmation avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least $500 USD or equivalent in cash, or a recent bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to show you can cover your stay.Recommended
Apply for the eVisa well in advance
Processing times can vary, and there's no visa on arrival option. Apply at least 7–10 days before your flight to avoid last-minute stress.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, passport, and flight confirmations as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your printed copies, you can still access them at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Kenya eVisa website (etakenya.go.ke). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $51 for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days, but can be faster.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa document. Print a copy and also save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Kenya.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
Before heading to the airport, gather: your passport (6+ months validity), printed eVisa, return/onward ticket, and first night accommodation confirmation. Keep them in an easily accessible folder.
4
Arrive at JKIA (Nairobi) or Moi International (Mombasa)
At the airport, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport, eVisa, and boarding pass ready. The officer will check your documents, take fingerprints, and stamp your passport. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, proceed to baggage claim. Then head to customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're free to exit into the arrivals hall.
