Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure from the Schengen area

Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration officers at Greek airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within your visa's validity. Budget airlines flying into Athens or Thessaloniki often check this before boarding. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officers may ask for a confirmed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from a host in Greece. Have a printed booking confirmation or a digital copy on your phone. Hostels and Airbnb bookings are accepted.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Officers may ask for bank statements, cash, or credit cards. The general guideline is €50–€60 per person per day. Have at least €300–€500 available for a short trip, or a recent bank statement showing sufficient balance.Recommended
Visa required — apply well in advance
Turkish passport holders must get a Schengen visa before traveling to Greece. There is no visa-on-arrival or e-visa. Apply at least 3-4 weeks before your trip to avoid delays.
Schengen area rules apply
Your Greek visa allows you to visit all 27 Schengen countries (France, Italy, Spain, etc.) for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. But you must enter through Greece first if that's your main destination.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a Schengen visa at the Greek consulate
Book an appointment at the Greek embassy in Ankara or the consulate in Istanbul. Fill out the application form online, gather your documents (passport, photos, travel insurance, flight and hotel bookings, bank statements), and attend the appointment in person. Pay the visa fee (€80 for adults, €40 for children 6-12). Processing takes about 15 calendar days.
2
Fly into Greece and go through passport control
At Athens or any Greek airport, join the 'Non-EU' queue. Hand over your passport with the visa sticker. The officer may ask for your return ticket, hotel address, and proof of funds. Answer clearly and briefly. They'll stamp your passport with the entry date and the number of days allowed (usually up to 90 days within a 180-day period).
3
Collect your luggage and exit the airport
After passport control, pick up your bags from the carousel and walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no goods to declare. You're now in Greece.
