Schengen visa application
Apply before travel
Turkey passport holders need a Schengen visa to enter Norway. Apply at the Norwegian embassy or visa application centre in your home country. Processing takes at least 15 calendar days — apply 3–6 months before your trip.Apply for Schengen visaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Norway. Schengen rules do not require 6 months beyond departure, but some airlines enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of exit from Schengen area
Immigration officers at Norwegian airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within your visa validity. Budget airlines check this before boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation, hostel booking, or a letter of invitation from your host in Norway. Immigration may ask for this at the border, especially if you are a first-time Schengen visitor.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry bank statements or a credit card showing you have at least 500 NOK per day of your stay. Immigration officers rarely ask, but having proof avoids delays.Recommended
Transit visa required even for airside connections
Turkish citizens need an Airport Transit Visa to change flights in Norway, even if you don't leave the airport. Exceptions apply if you hold a valid Schengen visa or residence permit, or a valid visa for UK, USA, Canada, Japan, or Ireland.
Travel insurance is strongly recommended
Norway has high-quality healthcare, but it's expensive for non-residents. A hospital stay can cost hundreds of dollars per day. Travel insurance covering medical expenses and emergency evacuation is strongly advised.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a Schengen visa
Submit your application at the Norwegian embassy or visa application centre in Turkey. You'll need your passport, photos, travel insurance, flight itinerary, accommodation proof, and bank statements. Processing takes at least 15 days.
2
Prepare your documents for arrival
Before you fly, print or save to your phone: your visa approval, passport, return ticket, and first night's accommodation confirmation. Keep them easily accessible — not buried in your luggage.
3
Arrive at a Norwegian airport
You'll land at Oslo (OSL), Bergen (BGO), or Stavanger (SVG). Follow signs to passport control. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The officer may ask about your trip purpose, accommodation, and return plans.
4
Go through passport control
Hand over your passport and visa. Answer questions honestly — tourism, business meetings, visiting family. If asked, show your return ticket and accommodation. The officer stamps your passport with entry date and allowed stay.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim. Customs is usually green channel for most tourists. If you have nothing to declare, walk straight out.
