Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Singapore
Singapore immigration strictly enforces the 6-month passport validity rule. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding by the airline. Carry a printed copy of your passport bio page as backup.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. A flight booking to any destination outside Singapore within 30 days of arrival works. Budget airlines at Changi Airport check this before issuing a boarding pass.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Immigration rarely asks for it, but if you arrive without a clear place to stay, they may question your itinerary. A simple booking.com reservation works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, card, or bank statement
Carry at least SGD 1,000 or equivalent in cash, or show a credit card with available limit. Immigration officers at Changi may ask how you plan to fund your stay. A bank statement from the last month is sufficient.Recommended
SG Arrival Card (digital pre-arrival form)
Submit online within 3 days before arrival
Complete the free SG Arrival Card at eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard. You get a QR code that speeds up immigration at Changi. Fill it in on your phone — it takes 3 minutes. No paper form accepted anymore.Open SG Arrival CardOptional
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this before boarding, and Singapore immigration enforces it strictly. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you book anything.
Keep your entry stamp safe
The immigration officer will stamp your passport with a visit pass valid for 30 days. Keep that page accessible — you'll need to show it when you leave Singapore. Losing it can cause delays at departure.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave, check your passport validity (6+ months from entry), print or save your return ticket and hotel booking confirmation, and consider getting travel insurance and a local eSIM.
2
Arrive at Changi Airport
You'll land at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN). Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Immigration'. There are separate queues for foreigners — join the one for 'All Passports'.
3
Present your passport at immigration
Hand over your passport to the officer. They may ask a few questions like how long you're staying and where you're staying. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with a 30-day visit pass.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. You're free to enter Singapore. Keep the entry stamp page safe — you'll need it when you leave.
