Taiwan passport holders can visit France for tourism or business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This policy has been in place for years and remains unchanged in 2026. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure from the Schengen area
Your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years and be valid for at least 3 months after you leave the Schengen zone. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration officers at French airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you'll leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Budget airlines often refuse boarding without one — have a refundable onward booking ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital copy of your hotel reservation for each night of your stay. If staying with friends, have their name, address, and a signed letter of invitation ready — border officers ask for this more often than you'd expect.Recommended
Proof of funds
At least €65 per day of stay
French immigration can ask you to show you have at least €65 per day for your stay, or €120 per day if you have no accommodation proof. A bank statement or credit card showing available credit works fine.Recommended
Overstaying is serious
The 90-day limit is strict. Overstaying even a day can lead to a fine (up to €3,000), deportation, and a ban from re-entering the Schengen area for up to 5 years. Set a reminder to leave on time.
Schengen area counts as one zone
Your 90 days apply to all 29 Schengen countries combined. If you spend 30 days in France, then 30 in Italy, and 30 in Spain, you've used up your allowance. Track your days carefully.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Gather your passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Save digital copies on your phone and print backups if possible.
2
Arrive at the airport in Taiwan
Check in for your flight. The airline will verify your passport validity and may ask for your return ticket. No visa is needed, so check-in is straightforward.
3
Go through passport control in France
At the airport (e.g., Charles de Gaulle, Orly, or Nice), join the 'All Passports' queue. Hand over your passport. The officer may ask about your trip purpose, length of stay, and accommodation. Answer clearly. They will stamp your passport with the entry date.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There is usually no customs declaration for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
