Taiwan passport holders need an eVisa to enter Myanmar. The eVisa covers tourism and business, and you apply online before traveling. As of 2026, the process is straightforward but requires careful attention to passport validity and onward travel.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official Ministry of Immigration portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email. Print the letter and carry it with your passport to present on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Airlines enforce this strictly — you won't board without it.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. Airlines also check this before boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. A printed copy avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers can request evidence of sufficient funds for your stay. Carry a bank statement or credit card showing at least $300–$500 in available balance.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Myanmar immigration counts 6 months from your date of entry, not your departure. If your passport expires even one day before that 6-month mark, you will be denied entry. Check your passport now.
eVisa is not available on arrival
Taiwan passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival at Myanmar airports. You must apply and receive approval online before you travel. No exceptions.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around USD 50 for tourism) with a credit card. Processing takes 3–5 business days, but apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
You'll get an approval letter by email. Print a paper copy and also save a PDF on your phone. The letter has a barcode that immigration will scan on arrival.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
Before you fly, make sure you have: passport with 6+ months validity, printed eVisa, return ticket, and first night hotel booking. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport
Most international flights land at Yangon International Airport (RGN). Follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'eVisa' counters. Present your passport, eVisa letter, and boarding pass. The officer will stamp your passport. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes.
5
Proceed to baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your luggage and walk through customs. There's usually no customs declaration form for personal items. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel.
