Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Macau. No minimum validity beyond your stay is required by Macau immigration, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Macau
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they may deny entry if you can't show one.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital hotel confirmation for your entire stay. If staying with a friend, have their name, address, and phone number written down — officers sometimes ask for it.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have a credit card or bank statement showing you can cover your expenses. Macau rarely checks this for Taiwanese passport holders, but it's safer to have proof ready.Recommended
No visa needed — but have your documents ready
Taiwan passport holders get 30 days visa-free in Macau. Just make sure your passport is valid for 6+ months and you have a return ticket. Immigration is straightforward, but having everything ready speeds things up.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Macau International Airport or ferry terminal
You'll go through immigration at Macau International Airport (MFM) or one of the ferry terminals (Taipa or Outer Harbour). Have your passport and return ticket ready.
2
Queue at immigration counter
Join the 'Visitors' or 'Foreign Passports' queue. Taiwan passport holders use the same counters as other visa-free nationalities. No separate e-gate access.
3
Present your passport and answer questions
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you're staying. Answer clearly. They rarely ask for proof of funds.
4
Receive entry stamp and proceed
You'll get an entry stamp with the allowed stay duration (usually 30 days). Keep the stamp legible — you'll need it when leaving. Then collect your luggage and exit.
